CINEMATEK has been selected as one of twelve finalists in the Heritage Tombola, a project organised by the National Lottery, Prométhéa, the Royal Institute for Cultural Heritage and museumPASSmusées. From 18 to 20 September, Ostend-based film festival Shhh returns with Becoming Sea, an immersive exploration of the body as landscape and landscape as body.
From September 15 to October 15, L’Alliance New York presents Jean-Luc Godard: Unmade and Abandoned, a film series programmed by Michael Witt and previously presented at the ICA in London, exploring the unrealized projects and ideas that shaped Godard’s cinema.
From 2 September to 30 October, CINEMATEK presents a complete retrospective of John Carpenter, “the master of the horror genre.”
Recently Belgian streaming platform and distributor Avila presented a new collection dedicated to one of contemporary cinema’s most distinctive voices: South Korean filmmaker Hong Sangsoo.
This summer, Belgian cinemas are screening retrospectives of Jacques Tati, Ingmar Bergman, Akira Kurosawa and, from 2 September, Jacques Demy. From 10 September, De Cinema’s Back 2 School programme kicks off for a second edition.
