Tënk celebrates its 10th anniversary in Brussels

On Friday, 16 October, the documentary platform Tënk comes to Cinema Nova to celebrate its 10th anniversary with “Boxing Against the Male Gaze,” a special evening organised in collaboration with En Ville and Cinema Nova. The programme opens with a performance by poet and dramaturge Raïssa Yowali, followed by screenings of Bojina Panayotova’s With Love and Rage (2025) and Marion Guillard’s We Had Fun Yesterday (2024). The evening is part of a wider series of events marking Tënk’s anniversary, exploring the social and political possibilities of documentary cinema and questioning the dominant male gaze that has long shaped our stories and images.

Alongside the Brussels event, Tënk is also presenting a special selection of five films on its platform until 2 January: Lizzie Borden’s Born in Flames (1983), Marion Guillard’s We Had Fun Yesterday (2024), Zuza Banasińska’s Grandmamauntsistercat (2024), Lola Arias’ Reas (2024), and Peter Wollen and Laura Mulvey’s Riddles of the Sphinx (1977).
