Black Fantasy + Toeing the Line
Lionel Rogosin Retrospective
Filmed entirely in Manhattan, the film features an improvised monologue by Jim Collier, one of the protagonists of Black Roots. In it, he addresses the racism he has experienced because he is married to a white woman. Rogosin’s film masterfully capitalizes on the formal innovations of 1960s experimental cinema. Preceded by the documentary Toeing the Line.
